SSG Landers right-hander Lee Rowoon has a good start in 2025.

Lee Rowoon took the mound as the team's third pitcher after Drew Anderson and Han Doo-sol in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League game against the Doosan Bears at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 22nd.

In the fifth inning with one out and one on the first base, Lee-woon, who came out in the fifth inning when trailing 3-4, struck out Kang Seung-ho, the first batter, swinging. The curve thrown at 1B-2S was taken out, leading to a wild pitch, and Yang Eui-ji, who was on the first base, went to the second base, but handled Yang Seok-hwan with a fly ball to right field to end the inning without a run.

After taking the mound in the sixth inning, Lee struck out Oh Myung-jin to center field, Park Joon-young, and handed over the mound to Kim Gun-woo. With two strikeouts and no run scored in one ⅓ inning. Thanks to Lee's effective defense of Doosan's batters in the middle, SSG also gained strength and succeeded in winning the opening game for the fifth consecutive year thanks to Oh Tae-gon's pinch-hit, come-from-behind two-run final home run in the eighth inning.

After the game, Lee said, "I believed that I could win. I didn't think I would lose even though I was losing. I wanted to play the role of a middle leg well on the mound. The game was in the mood to win. I was able to win thanks to fans' support."

"I thought the opening match was just one of 144 games. I wanted to do my part. I believed that if I blocked well, batters would give me points," he added.

At the end of the exhibition game, SSG coach Lee Soo-yong once said, "Rowoon didn't have a good pace in the U.S. camp. I was worried about him."

In response, Lee said, "I did what my body was doing. It didn't improve much now. Looking back on the past time, baseball was not the end of the first half of the season. I need to do well until the second half of the season so that my team and I will be good. I will take good care of my condition."

Lee is now entering his third year as a professional. A native of Daegu High School, Lee is the fifth pitcher chosen by SSG in the first round of the 2023 KBO Rookie Draft. He recorded six wins, one loss and five holds with an ERA of 5.62 in 50 games (57 ⅔ innings) in the 2023 season, and one win, three losses and one save with nine holds with an ERA of 5.95 in 63 games (56 innings) in the 2024 season. His overall KBO record is seven wins, four losses and one save with 14 holds with an ERA of 5.78.

He has started well this year. He has displayed good performance in four exhibition games (four ⅔ innings), one save, and 1.93 ERA until the season opener.

Lee said, "I want to fulfill all the roles that the team gives me. I have no desire to join the team. I want to play a role that connects the starting pitcher and the setup man because the pitchers in the background are good. And I want to throw the ball in the post season as well. I will do my best to win the team title."
